Dr. Carlos Castillo

Dr. Carlos is a web miner with a background on information retrieval, and has been influential in the areas of adversarial web search and web content quality and credibility. He is an active researcher with more than 60 publications in top-tier international conferences and journals, including two monographs on Adversarial Web Search and Information and Influence Propagation, and roughly 4700 citations.

He received his Ph.D from the University of Chile, and was a visiting scientist at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2005) and Sapienza Universitá di Roma before working as a research scientist at Yahoo! Research for six years. He has served in the PC or SPC of all major conferences in his area (WWW, WSDM, SIGIR, KDD, CIKM, etc.). He was PC co-chair of WSDM 2014, and co-organized the Adversarial Information Retrieval Workshop and Web Spam Challenge in 2007 and 2008, the ECML/PKDD Discovery Challenge in 2010 and 2014, and the Web Quality Workshop from 2011 to 2014.

  Dr. Manish Gupta

Manish Gupta is Vice President at Xerox Corporation and Director of Xerox Research Centre India. Previously, Manish has served as a Managing Director, Technology Division at Goldman Sachs in India, and has held various leadership positions with IBM, including that of Director, IBM Research - India and Chief Technologist, IBM India/South Asia. From 2001 to 2006, he served as a Senior Manager at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York, where he led the team developing system software for the Blue Gene/L supercomputer. IBM was awarded a National Medal of Technology and Innovation for Blue Gene by US President Barack Obama in 2009.

Manish earned a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from IIT Delhi in 1987, a Master of Science degree from the Ohio State University in 1988 and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 1992. He has co-authored over 75 papers, with more than 5,000 citations in Google Scholar in the areas of high-performance computing, compilers, and Java Virtual Machine optimizations, and has been granted more than 15 US patents. While at IBM, Manish received an Outstanding Innovation Award, two Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards and the Lou Gerstner Team Award for Client Excellence. Manish was named an ACM Fellow in 2012.

  Prof. Divyakant Agrawal

Prof. Agrawal is a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He received a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in India and Masters and PhD degress in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. His research expertise is in the areas of distributed systems and databases mining. He is a Gold Medalist, from BITS Pilani, 1980 and a IEEE and ACM distinguished scientist and fellow. He also holds many publications and patents in his name.
